In a Land Where Nothing Mattered

In a land where nothing mattered,
a girl lay on the floor, not sleeping,
but shattered.

Before her broken eyes,
there was a small light shining with the intensity
of a thousand interwoven lies.

It wasn’t a tangible thing, she knew,
the brightness was just an artifact of history,
the past that she shared with you.

The what-was-pure light that she held tightly onto
was just a figment of her imagination,
an artificial creation, a thought that flew.

Motionless and emotionless is how she is now,
all that remains of her is her physical entity,
her soul no longer intact, leaving no why or how.
